Chamberlains family wish to join Highbury Estate trust

Joseph Chamberlain’s great-granddaughter has added her support to the local Moseley community groups who are concerned about the council's position as both the owner and trustee of the estate and wish to have a say in the future of Birmingham’s Highbury estate.

Mary de Vere Taylor has openly expressed a wish for Birmingham City Council to appoint her a trustee of the Highbury Estate and to follow the charitable and community-based uses for the Estate that the Chamberlain family always had in mind.

The hall is used mainly for commercial purposes by the council and is a popular venue for weddings, banquets and conferences. The house and grounds were handed in trust to the council in 1932.
