Moseley fast food shop to open later
Birmingham City Council's licensing sub-committee have granted permission for the Village Kebab House in St Mary's Row to extend their opening hours by an hour to 3am but have not imposed a wish that they employ door security guards.
Police had attempted to impose an order on the shop demanding that bouncers be employed to reduce 'anti-social incidents' that may follow from opening until the early hours of the morning but this was rejected by the members of the committee. The owner of the shop, Mr Hussain's original application was to open until 4am.
The Moseley Society and local police are concerned that late night drinkers often come to Moseley from the city centre to continue their night out and this is causing ongoing issues of noise and violence which may be further exacerbated by having a fast food outlet open so late.
The decision to allow Village Kebab House extended opening hours could set a precedent that other bars and fast food establishments may follow.
